Beavering away in the shadow of the worlds top designers and often anonymously is a workforce making original couture bijoux to top off the latest fashions. They are bound by no restrictions on materials or processes and concerned only with producing prototypes for innovative items. It is in these creative laboratories that new ideas are ceaselessly born to feed the future of haute couture.

Based on dozens of interviews with leading couture jewellers and research in museums, libraries, archives and fashion houses, Costume Jewelry for Haute Couture, richly illustrated with original photographs, opens our eyes to a fascinating and creative profession occupying a singular place where art, fashion, craftsmanship and design meet as couturiers, jewellers and studios collaborate on unique creations.

Florence Müller is the author of numerous publications including ‘Histoire de la Mode au xxe siècle’; ‘La mode des années 10’; ‘La mode des années 20’; ‘La mode des années 80’; ‘Le Chapeau, une histoire des têtes’; ‘Les Baskets, une histoire de la chaussure de ville, de sport’.
