At the beginning of his career, Griffa associated himself with the Arte Povera, BMPT and Supports/Surfaces movements, with which he shared the radicality of stripped down shapes and the concept of series. But the materiality of his works is never neglected. Freely working with simple gestures on large canvases spread out on the floor, Griffa invents, replicates and reiterates an artistic language going back through centuries of culture to the origins of creation.
