At the invitation of the ModeMuseum, Antwerp fashion designers An Vandervorst and Filip Arickx have come up with an original view of Russian costume down the ages under the title Katharina Prospekt. Following their instincts, they make a personal selection of costumes and items from Moscows State History Museum. Highlights include materials in traditional Russian red, military uniforms, liturgical items, leather, fur and felt adaptations of which feature prominently in their own collections.

In contrast to the usual clichés of Russia like dolls, vodka and fur hats, the authors offer us a rich world of diverse styles cultural, ethnic, historical presented in an amazingly evocative format.
